Since 1963, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tucson has helped over 10,000 of Tucson’s at-risk children reach their highest potential through the development of strong relationships with caring adult mentors. Children today face many challenges — we believe they deserve better! Research shows that one-to-one mentoring is one of the few youth development tools that effectively deters negative behavior; children with mentors are more likely to avoid drugs and alcohol, show increased confidence, do better in school, and have better relationships with family.

At Big Brothers Big Sisters, we are positioned to lead the way in changing how our children grow up in Tucson. Big Brothers Big Sisters is dedicated to providing a Big Brother or Big Sister for every child who wants and needs one, serving school children ages 6-17 across the greater Tucson area. We are not only affecting positive changes for each individual child, we are impacting their family, their school and, ultimately, our whole community.

When a concerned group of families established the CF Foundation in 1955, they set their sights high—aiming to advance understanding of cystic fibrosis, create new treatments and find a cure. Today, the CF Foundation, a nonprofit donor-supported organization, is the primary sponsor of critical research that is making tremendous strides to cure and control this fatal, genetic disease. We have a Care Center right here in Southern Arizona (Tucson) providing patient treatment for children and families.

Today, there is a sense of excitement and optimism in the CF community as people with the disease are living longer than ever before. The predicted CF median survival age is now in the mid-thirties, and more than 46 percent of patients are age 18 or older.

Virtually all of the approved CF drug therapies available today were made possible because of research funded by the CF Foundation. There are now more than 30 potential therapies in the Foundation’s drug discovery and development pipeline.

The deadline for voting was midnight, December 31. Please check back on this website shortly for results on the winning recipients.
